A 3,400 sq-ft custom single-family build on a wooded half-acre lot in west Little Rock. Two-story design with a vaulted great room, walk-out lower level garage, and a wraparound covered porch the family specifically asked for to host Sunday dinners. The framing scope covered every stick from sill plate to ridge beam.
The lot slopes 14 feet from the front of the house to the back, which drove the walk-out lower level decision. Working with the architect, we coordinated framing details around three engineered LVL beams in the great room and a 22-foot clear-span over the kitchen.
Two unexpected rain weeks in April put pressure on the dry-in deadline. We added a Saturday crew, shifted soffit work to the next phase, and still beat the dry-in date by 4 days. The owner's biggest worry — a 22-foot great room beam — was set on the first try with two cranes and a careful morning of layout.
